You will want to make this simple and delicious candied bacon every day! Everything is better with bacon, but wait until you make it candied bacon.
This simple and delicious candied bacon recipe will have you wanting to make it all the time! It’s great on so many different items, and is great even as a snack. If you really want to get BOLD, you can pair it with this super easy caramel sauce for dipping.
I actually started making this bacon as a topping for our burgers, but found out it’s worth having just by itself.

Ingredients
- Bacon
- Maple Syrup | Real Maple Syrup
- Brown Sugar | Light Brown Sugar
Bacon – the reasoning is obvious behind this one. You need to have bacon to candy it! Center cut bacon works really well for this recipe, but it will work with any bacon. For softer and stickier candied bacon, use thick cut bacon. For crispier and less sticky candied bacon, use regular cut bacon.
Maple Syrup – we use real maple syrup, but it would also be great with the sugar in alternative syrups. Just make sure that it isn’t sugar free or it won’t help to caramelize properly.
Brown Sugar – we use light brown sugar because it’s what we have, but I’d really like to try it with dark brown sugar for the added molasses. I’ll let you know how it turns out once I try it.
Equipment:
- Large Sheet Pan
- Baking Rack
- Aluminum Foil
- Bowl
Step 1.
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place your maple syrup and brown sugar into the bowl and stir to combine well.

Step 2.
Once your maple syrup and brown sugar are mixed well, add in the bacon. Be sure to separate all the bacon pieces before placing them in the bowl. Mix the bacon into the maples syrup/brown sugar mixture until all pieces are coated.
Step 3.
Line your baking sheet with aluminum foil and place the wire rack on top. Place your bacon strips onto the wire rack, making sure there is no overlap (you may have to do this in batches depending on the size of your sheet pan).
Step 4.
Spoon or brush any remaining maple syrup and brown sugar mixture over the bacon. I do not typically have any left in the bowl, but if you do, USE IT!
Step 5.
Place your baking sheet with bacon into the oven and bake for 20 – 30 minutes (depending on bacon thickness). Bake until browned and starting to crisp (thick cut bacon likely won’t crisp and will stay softer). Allow the bacon to cool for about 10 minutes, as the sugar will be very hot!

Pro Tip: don’t skip the aluminum foil. Sugar can burn on your sheet pan very easily and it does not like to come off. This can ruin your sheet pan without the aluminum foil.
