Create year round fun, even on cold and rainy days, with this indoor s’mores activity!
S’mores are one of those easy to throw together activities that kids love! It’s so much fun to toast the marshmallow, but it also results in a wonderful, tasty treat. We used to only make s’mores on days we made bonfires in our backyard, which would require the proper weather. For our wedding we had a s’mores buffet put together for snacks or dessert for guests. I thought, why can’t we take this idea and make indoor s’mores? So that’s exactly what we did!
To my surprise, after doing this a few times, I realized that there are actually specific indoor s’mores marshmallow toasters you can purchase, but I did not realize that at the time. Read on for a couple of different ideas for your indoor smores!

Supplies
- Marshmallows
- Chocolate bars
- Graham crackers
- Marshmallow roaster or chafing fuel
- Kabob skewers
We have been using chafing fuel for our indoor smores because you can purchase these individual for about $3. If you look on Amazon, you can only purchasing chafing fuel in packs, and it’s almost as expensive as getting an actual marshmallow toasting tray.
Making Indoor S’mores
Make sure to choose an area that has enough space to keep the chafing fuel cell away from walls, cabinets, decorations, or anything that could catch fire as it is an open flame. Note: we use our dining room table as it’s an open space without anything above it.
Use the kabob skewers as marshmallow roasting sticks. You will want to hold these well above the chafing fuel cell as the marshmallows can catch fire quickly if placed directly above the flame. Slowly turn and roast your marshmallow well above the flame. Once roasted to your liking, place the marshmallows between your graham crackers and chocolate, and enjoy!
This is such a simple activity that you can throw together in just minutes!
Indoor S’mores Bar
You can make these fun indoor s’mores a quick and easy party activity, or kids activity, with an indoor s’mores bar. Get a few different flavors of graham crackers, and different types of chocolate bars, and allow people to pick and choose their favorite smores toppings. I have listed a few suggestions for this below.
Place your selected ingredients on a wooden tray, similar to what you would use for a charcuterie board, and place your fuel or marshmallow roaster in the center. Use cups or jars to hold the skewers, and you can even use some cute jars or bowls to place the marshmallows in!
