This easy taco bake is a kid favorite meal, simple to make, and has great flavor!
We are always looking for quick and easy week night meals, but we aren’t great at compromising flavors or foods we like to have a quick meal. Sometimes we have to, but we would much rather have some quick meals that we actually enjoy eating. We don’t really prefer heating up chicken nuggets and mac & cheese, but sometimes that’s what it takes with busy schedules and busy families. This easy taco bake recipe is one of our solutions to easy weeknight meals that still have flavor!
There are three components to this easy taco bake recipe, the taco meat, building the layers, and your choice of toppings. You can use your preferred taco meat in this recipe, but I highly recommend using my favorite taco meat recipe! This is the taco meat recipes I will be providing in the recipe below.

About the Easy Taco Bake Recipe
Taco Meat
You can use any taco meat for this recipe, but I highly suggest using the recipe from above. The above taco meat recipe stays together much better to use as a filling, and it has great flavor!
Tortillas
You will want to use the 6″ flour tortillas for this recipe. You will need about 9 of them.
Shredded Cheese
The best cheese for this recipe is shredded cheddar. You could use other cheeses, but cheddar will work the best. We use the shredded triple cheddar, that’s my preference.
Toppings
You can use any of your preferred toppings. Any toppings that you would typically use on tacos or nachos would be a great choice for this taco bake.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray.
- Make the taco meat according the the recipe in my post above (or to package directions if you are using a taco seasoning packet).
- Once the taco meat has been completed, lay 3 tortillas in the bottom of your prepped 9×13 pan, overlapping just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Spread half of the taco meat overtop of the tortillas and cover with 1/3 of the shredded cheddar. Place 3 more tortillas on top of the taco meat/cheese mixture.
- Spread the remaining half of the taco meat overtop of the new layer of tortillas. Cover with 1/3 of the shredded cheddar and top with 3 more tortillas. Use the remaining cheese to cover the top of the last layer of tortillas.
- Place in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese on top has melted and starts to bubble.
- Remove from the oven, cut into squares, and serve immediately with your desired toppings. Imaged: we used lettuce, tomato, salsa, sour cream and taco sauce. A list of suggested toppings is in the post above.
